Blemishes are proof that life isn't fair. But you knew that. What's one to do?

  • Cleanse gently. Avoid scruffing cleansers and commercial soaps that retain tallow or thickening agents that irritate. Blemished skin is already irritated, so avoid anything that would make it more red and swollen.
  • Do not over-wash (twice a day is adequate) or over-use drying alcohol as this will only encourage more oil production.
  • Use topical preparations that will balance oil levels, promote healthy cell turnover, and penetrate pores to kill bacteria. Find what works and then be consistent.
  • Consult a physician when the situation does not respond to your efforts; it may require antibiotic therapy.
